The Hummingbird Café opened in October of 2007 and is owned by Jimmy Doolan and Essie Etchingham. The couple, originally from Seymour, Indiana and Bozeman, MT, were drawn to Butte’s unique history, architecture, and character. The café is housed in the Haller Building, built in 1895 as The Montana Bakery. Music, art, environmental responsibility, health, and wellness are
guiding principles and passions in the owners' lives that they wish to
pass on to the customers. The café features a monthly rotating art show
and hosts live music events. From the café’s homemade soups,
sandwiches, and baked goods to our fresh and delicious smoothies,
juices, and coffee, we strive to use the highest quality local and/or organic
products available. Our eggs come from chickens raised a few miles from town, our milk comes from Kalispell, lettuce and other produce is grown near Whitehall, our coffee is roasted in Missoula, and our bacon and sausage come from producers throughout the state. Check out our Links page for information on some of our producers. Eat well and nourish your mind, body, and soul! |
